The Friends of the Mattapoisett Library was organized and incorporated to increase public support for the library and to supplement its educational and cultural services. The group is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 charitable corporation whose purpose is to support library services, promote the enrichment and use of total library resources, to sponsor educational and cultural programs and to focus public attention on the library's needs.

Over the past few years, the Friends have contributed funding (raised largely through membership dues and booksales) to support the purchase of Museum Passes, a spotlight for the Flag Pole, a Music CD Collection, Tape Cassette Players, Computer Scanners, a Copier and Adult and Children's Programming. The Friends Board of Directors presently meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 3:30 a.m. in the library. Please visit their Gently Used Booksale Shelf in our lobby (near the Circulation Desk) for some incredible values all year long!
