Volunteers play an important role in the library's ability to serve the public. They perform tasks under the supervision of library staff, including shelving, shelf reading, book repair, story time craft preparation and much more.  Some volunteers also choose to deliver books to home-bound patrons.  Summer time is also an excellent season to lend a helping hand in the children's room, when many additional activities are added to the schedule.  The support of volunteers of all ages enhances the ability of the staff to perform other tasks and serve the public.  We value our volunteers!

Periodically, volunteer orientation sessions are held to explain the volunteer program to interested persons.  Applications, CORI forms, and a copy of the volunteer policy and procedures form are available at the main desk and should be returned there.  Each volunteer will meet with the library director and will be matched with tasks that seem interesting and appropriate to his or her skills.

 

Volunteers sign in and out each week and wear identification badges indicating they are library volunteers.  Patrons' questions are referred to staff members.  Each year a volunteer recognition event is held so that the staff and trustees can express their appreciation for the assistance received.
