About the Seed Library

Seed LibraryThe Mattapoisett Free Public Library Seed Library first opened in May of 2018 composed entirely of donated seeds from Seed Savers Exchange. It quickly became a beloved facet of the collection. Interest only increased during the coronavirus pandemic when patrons requested hundreds of packets of seeds. Today, the Seed Library continues to help patrons kick-start their garden each and every spring.

In the spring of 2021, the Mattapoisett Free Public Library received funds from the Richard & Ann J. Prouty Foundation to support a new initiative, "Start Locally - Live Sustainably". As part of the initiate, the Mattapoisett Free Public Library's Library of Things was expanded to include planting tools. All of this is available to borrow with a library card. Come and check it out!
